Newsroom

The Newsroom contains dated ASA news releases, public statements, and association updates. Official policy positions remain in Positions & Comments; news records link to them rather than substituting a headline for the full record.

Record types

News release

An announcement issued by ASA and approved for public distribution.

Public statement

A concise ASA response to a current issue. It should link to an adopted position or explain the authority for the statement.

Association update

News about governance, membership, programs, publications, or operations. It does not become a policy position merely because ASA published it.

Event or program announcement

A factual notice about an approved ASA activity. Dates, eligibility, fees, sponsorship, faculty, and registration status must be current.

03

Corrections and updates

A substantive correction appears on the article with the date and effect. A later development is labeled as an update and does not rewrite what was known at original publication. Withdrawn records retain an explanatory status page where appropriate.

04

Media use

Journalists may quote public releases within applicable law and editorial practice, but should preserve material qualifications and link to the original record. Logos, photographs, and biographies follow their stated use terms.
