ASA’s work is supported by operational staff, designated contractors, and subject-matter contributors whose roles are defined and verified. This page distinguishes responsibility for day-to-day operations from advisory or project-based participation.
Staff and operations
Staff profiles identify the function each person leads, the decisions within that role, and the most appropriate contact route. Published profiles use current information approved by the individual and ASA.
Typical operating functions include:
- executive and corporate operations;
- policy and government affairs;
- regulatory affairs;
- scientific affairs;
- quality and standards;
- membership and professional development;
- communications and public affairs;
- programs, events, and education;
- finance, administration, privacy, and technology.
The presence of a function in ASA’s operating model does not require a separate employee title. ASA may assign more than one function to a qualified person or contracted service while retaining clear accountability.
Scientific, legal, and technical advisors
Advisors contribute within a written scope. Their participation does not create a general endorsement of ASA, its members, products, or every association position. ASA records qualifications, relevant interests, role dates, and the work to which an advisor contributed.
Legal Advisory Group participation does not create an attorney-client relationship with members or website users. Scientific advisors do not provide personal medical advice through ASA.
Authors, reviewers, and faculty
Publication authors, peer reviewers, event faculty, and award reviewers are credited according to the rules for the specific work. ASA distinguishes authorship, review, advisory input, and program decision authority. Material interests and funding are disclosed in the affected record.
Contributing expertise
Member representatives can express interest through the relevant committee or task force. External experts may be invited for a defined contribution when their experience fits the work and conflicts can be managed.
